Changes to your Facebook Business Page

Facebook is no stranger to the odd update to its interface. Whether it’s introducing the Timeline style profile back in 2012 or just a tweak to its News Feed, Facebook is constantly updating its look, feel and functionality.

What’s new

The latest of these updates is a relatively drastic restyling of your Facebook Page. The new layout moves quite a few things about for page admins with an emphasis on showing you insights and maximising the impact of your cover photo. All distractions have been removed from the cover photo, the call to action has been moved to just below to image and your profile picture is now smaller and also sits just below the cover photo. The cover photo now also covers the entire column.

An overview of your page insights is now situated in box to the right of the main timeline and presents you key bits of information. Post reach, engagements and call to action metrics are all available to see at a glance, which is helpful.

Other than this, the tabs have been removed as your main method of navigation. Instead of your Home, About, Photos and Like buttons sitting just above the timeline, they now belong to the left of it in a list view. This is probably to allow for more items to be in this list without having to click too often.

These changes seem to be rolling out slowly and should be with all pages within a few weeks to a month. What do you think of this new layout?

UPDATE

It seems that Facebook had a change of heart before pushing the final update to the layout of Business pages. The final update moves the profile picture of the business to the far left and stops the cover photo covering the entirety of the page. The navigation options are also now also in this newly created space.
